What you need to know about the 2014 GED® Tests:


    • 4 timed tests covering 4 content areas:
      • Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA) (150 minutes)
      • Mathematical Reasoning (115 minutes)
      • Science (90 minutes)
      • Social Studies (70 minutes)


    • The passing score for each test is 145 and there is no averaging of the test scores.


    • Testers must create an account at GED.com (or call 1-877-392-6433) to set up an appointment to take the official tests. There is no walk-in testing or same day appointments and missed appointments are non-refundable.


    • Testers must have a valid ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, consulate card) in order to test.


    • Testers must be 19 or older and cannot be enrolled in a high school (17 and 18 year olds must have an Age Waiver approved by the MN Department of Education, click here for more information, MN DOE Age Waiver Application


    • All tests are given on computer at an authorized test center.  The Hubbs Center is an authorized test center with a nice, small, quiet testing environment.


    • There are 7 different types of questions on the tests:
      • Extended response (essay and short written response)
      • Drag-and-drop
      • Drop-down
      • Fill-in-the-blank
      • Hot spot
      • Multiple choice
      • Short answer


    • Tests are administered in English and Spanish.


    • Testers only have to take the tests they don't pass.  Testers may take the same subject three times without waiting between retests, but will have to wait 60 days to retest after the third attempt.


    • GED Tests cost $30 per test and $10 for retests.

    The GED Tests are no longer free.  The funds provided by the MN Department of Education have been depleted as of 3/8/17.

    GED Tests are $30 each and retests are $10 each



    Starting April 3 through May 15, students can save 50% off any GED Ready practice test purchased through GED.com.

    To save, students should:

    Important details to remember:

    The GED© Tests have changed. Since January 1, 2014, the GED©Tests are only administered on computer at certified GED© Testing Centers.  Registration for all GED© Testing must be completed online at ged.com or by calling 1-877-392-6433 (1-877-EXAM-GED).  The Hubbs Center is a certified GED© Test Center; however, all registration, scheduling, and payment must be completed online at ged.com or by calling 1-877-392-6433.   The Hubbs Center and Hub@Harding offer free GED© preparation classes.
