Information Technology Training classes

Information Technology Tier 1

This is one of two classes for students interested in going into the Information Technology (IT) field. This class fits ELL level B2+

Introduction to IT will:

Give students the opportunity to earn Northstar Digital Literacy certificates in Basic Computer, Email and Internet.
Help students understand basics of social media, digital privacy and security and how to be a good digital citizen.
Introduce students to IT careers .
Give students vocabulary for hardware and software computer components.

Information Technology Tier 2

This class will focus on Technical Support Fundamentals, a Coursera platform where students gain skills and knowledge of computer history and understand IT career pathways. This class is for ELL level C1+

Students will be able to:

Name hardware, software and platform components.
Understand different operating systems and how they interact.
Understand concepts around Internet privacy and security for digital citizenship.
They will learn how to perform basic computer troubleshooting with customer/computer users.
They will focus on customer service skills and will job shadow current field technicians and help desk support.
