Now Hiring: Hubbs Center AmeriCorps Digital Navigator (Full-Time)
Hubbs Center is accepting applications for an Americorps Digital Navigator to work with adult learners from October 7, 2024 – October 6, 2025. The navigator must serve a minimum of 1700 hours to successfully complete their service term. If hours are completed before the official end date, there may be an option to end the service term earlier.
Duties: Assist adult learners in increasing their digital literacy skills by: teaching “Everyday Digital Literacy” classes to groups of students; providing technology support to students; facilitating online and distance learning orientations for students; teaching short-term or one-time classes on frequently-requested topics such as online job searching, digital safety and basic computer troubleshooting; providing assistance to students working on distance learning programs in Hubbs computer lab; proctoring Northstar Digital Literacy Skills assessments; assisting with and further developing laptop loaner program; and connecting students with affordable internet options. In addition, digital navigator will update or create digital resource guides and evaluate program effectiveness through post-participation follow-up surveys.
Minimum qualifications: US Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident; high school diploma or equivalent or working towards attaining; successful completion of all required criminal history checks; at least 18 years old by first day of service. Additional qualifications: Must have computer proficiency and basic computer troubleshooting skills on Windows and IOS operating systems. Familiarity with technology such as smartphones, tablets, Chromebooks desired. Must be patient with learners and willing to work with students and staff who have varying computer skill levels. Some teaching experience desired (can be volunteer experience). Lesson planning experience would be helpful. Looking for creative, resourceful person who has excellent communication skills in both oral and written formats.
Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, or Monday – Thursday, onsite and in-person. Preferred schedule would include two evenings per week if possible. Hubbs Center has classes from 8:30 am to 8 pm Monday through Thursday, and Friday mornings.
Stipend and benefits: Bi-weekly living allowance of $877.66 every two weeks (yearly total of $22,881.91, pre-tax); $7,395 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of service term; loan deferment and interest forbearance on qualifying student loans; health insurance; childcare coverage for qualifying members; one-time housing assistance up to $750; $150 in professional development funds; leadership development; professional networking opportunities and alumni networks.

Hubbs Center’s mission is partnering with adults to improve lives through education. The digital navigator will help realize one part of our school’s vision, that adults in our community will have the digital literacy skills they need to reach their goals in all areas of life -- employment, community access, higher education, and more – and be able to assist others to do the same. Hubbs Center serves nearly 6,000 adults annually in online and in-person English language classes, math, GED, college prep, computer and job training. Students range in age from 18 – 82 and come from nearly 100 different countries across the globe. Nearly 50 highly qualified teachers lead classes year-round, with assistance from volunteers, interns and support staff.

Digital navigators will support community members through one-on-one mentorship, classroom-based instruction, and resource guide creation and referrals.
